Mona & Matthias
Bayreuth, 21 October 2018
So, these two recently blew me away…
Mona and Matthias wanted a couple’s session and we ended up shooting at the Eremitage in Bayreuth and I was floored by the beauty and sheer magnitude of this venue! The Eremitage, founded by Margrave Georg Wilhelm, sits on what was originally the site of a zoo owned by his father. It consists of an Old Palace surrounded by rambling gardens with boskets, avenues and water features. Boasting a definite Baroque-element, these gardens formed a sublime backdrop for our shoot. On a side note – as a South African I am unused to real changes in season, so this shoot was my first introduction to the wonder of a European Autumn and I have honestly fallen in love with the burnished colours and the visible promise that endings can also be beautiful.
Back to Mona and Matthias – this pair is fun, friendly and gorgeous to boot! I had no trouble “posing” them (more interaction, really) despite a bit of a language barrier, which proves yet again that Love surpasses the need for spoken language and these images tell their love story beautifully. We hid in alcoves, strolled beneath leafy arches, and generally had a good time exploring the endless gardens. I love it when my couples are up for anything and I felt like the three of us just clicked from the beginning and I am ecstatic with the result of our time together.
They say a picture says a thousand words (thank goodness – I’m not so good at this writing thing!).
So, here’s to all the great love stories, and may I tell many more in the years to come.
